Mission

��Ĵ�ý’s Age-Friendly University Coalition aims to respond to the educational needs and interests of adult learners and to enhance the visibility and availability of gerontological education and programming at ��Ĵ�ý through the advancement and institutionalization of the .

OBJECTIVES

To collaborate with all ��Ĵ�ý faculty, staff, and students to build new age-friendly programs, practices, and policies.
To support the academic and career goals of life-long learners in collaboration with other academic units and support offices.
To reengage with preexisting age-friendly programs (e.g., Donovan Scholars,
undergraduate and graduate gerontology micro-credentials, Adult Learner Programs and Services, etc.) and practices at ��Ĵ�ý to ensure maximum utilization.
To increase accessibility of predeveloped digital teaching resources pertaining to aging to assist faculty with infusing aging content in their courses.
To propel the success of older adult learners and meaningful engagement of younger students in gerontological education and experiences.
To build cultural competence and ethnic diversity in aging in teaching, research, and service.
To create a culture that is open to using work and life experience as means of meeting learning outcomes for courses and programs.
To facilitate faculty workshops that encourage intergenerational course planning.
To expand experiential learning and research opportunities in aging for all ��Ĵ�ý students and faculty.
To collaborate with community professionals and partnering Age-Friendly Universities across the country to expand age-friendly programs and practices.
To promote awareness and strategies for healthy aging across the lifespan.
